Journal Guidelines
- Daily responses are 10 points per day, and must be completed even if you are absent. You are expected to keep up with the prompts so you aren't struggling at the eleventh hour.
- Responses should be kept in a notebook kept only for journals (composition preferred, one-subject spiral okay).
- Each journal response should be answered in complete sentences, 4-5 sentences in length (MINIMUM) and in paragraph form unless otherwise indicated.
- Each response should include the date and prompt.
- You may submit your journals on TurnItIn.com.

Thank you for taking the time to complete all of these writing prompts. Many of you have gone above and beyond, being candid, honest, reflective, and introspective about yourselves and your lives. - MON 3/30: If you had lived hundreds of years ago, what kind of work do you think you would have done? What job would you have wanted to do, and why?
- TUE 3/31: Where do you do most of your journaling? At a desk, on your bed, at the kitchen table, at a coffee shop? What is it about that place that allows you to work?
- WED 4/1: If you woke up tomorrow and discovered that everything in life was now free, what is the first think you would want to do, and why?
- THUR 4/2: If this week had a theme to it, what would yours be, and why?
- FRI 4/3: NO SCHOOL (GOOD FRIDAY OBSERVANCE) What is one of your greatest blessings, and why?
- MON 4/6: Tell about an interesting date you've been on recently (good or bad).
- TUE 4/7: What do you have to do today that you'd really rather not do, and why not?
- WED 4/8: What is something new you learned recently?
- THUR 4/9: Snakes: interesting or creepy, and why?
- FRI 4/10: What is something totally overrated in your world, and why?
- MON 4/13: What is something you just need a kick in the pants to finish? What's holding you back?
- TUE 4/14: You have been given a bar of magic soap. What does it wash away?
- WED 4/15: Which do you prefer: sunrise or sunset, and why?
- THUR 4/16: Look around you right now. Where are you and what's wrong with this picture?
- FRI 4/17: Today is Ms. Ausley's 40th birthday! What life lessons or accomplishments do you hope to have learned/achieved by your 40th birthday?

- MON 4/20: If and when you become Supreme Ruler of the World, who will be your top advisor, and why? What qualifications does that person need?
- TUE 4/21: How do you react when someone compliments you, and why do you react that way?
- WED 4/22: Fill in the blanks and then explain: "I would like to march right up to ____ and tell them ______!"
- THUR 4/23: What things do you and your best friend have in common? What keeps your friendship going?
- FRI 4/24: Write a "thank you" note to someone.
APRIL 27-MAY 1
- MON 4/27: What is something you would like to see invented that would make your life easier?
- TUE 4/28: A new Broadway musical is about your life! Come up with a title for the big show, and write a mini-review of it.
- WED 4/29: What bad habit would you like to change, and why? What prevents you from changing it?
- THUR 4/30: What keeps you from getting a good night's sleep?
- FRI 5/1: If you could spend the day living the adventures of any cartoon character, which one would you choose, and why?
MAY 4-8
- MON 5/4: Write about one piece of jewelry you own. Where did it come from and what meaning does it have for you? When do you wear it?
- TUE 5/5: If you could win a lifetime supply of anything you choose, what would it be, and why?
- WED 5/6: Write about an item you use frequently that you think (or hope) will be obsolete in 20 years.
- THUR 5/7: Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? How does this compare to how others see you?
- FRI 5/8: What do you want your retirement to be like?

- MON 5/11: If you could pack today and leave on summer vacation, where would you be off to, and why?
- TUE 5/12: What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Write about the circumstances (where were you, who were you with, etc.).
- WED 5/13: What modern technology would you have difficulty living without?
- THUR 5/14: What is something that made you angry this week?
- FRI 5/15: Write about something nice that a stranger did for you, or that you once did for a stranger.
MAY 18-22
- MON 5/18: If you could be THE BEST at something in the world, what would it be, and why?
- TUE 5/19: Describe in detail one item that you would love to inherit or be given from a relative, or that you have inherited or been given.
- WED 5/20: If you had a "do-over" button, what one event in your life would you like to have a second chance at?
- THUR 5/21: Create a description or ad for yourself for an online dating site.
- FRI 5/22: When have you ever felt like the "new kid"? If you haven't, when was a time you helped out or befriended the new kid?
